The Volunteer Experience

Volunteering with Outdoor Explorations is incredibly rewarding. Beginning in Fall, 2010, we will be selecting a group of volunteers each season based on their passion, skills, and ability to commit to attending at least three events. Check out the facts below, look at our calendar of events, and apply if this might be a great fit for you!

The Facts About Volunteering

How Do OE Volunteers Contribute?

Our volunteers are committed individuals who provide support and assistance to our participants during each of our activities. Program volunteers will help with each aspect of our event including setting up, co-leading, and packing as needed. Administrative volunteers provide support including development, fundraising event and office assistance.

Who Volunteers for Outdoor Explorations?

People age 18+ who are willing to participate in our quarterly half-day training, obtain CPR and First Aid certification (we try to offer this on site), agree to a background check, and commit to participating in at least three events during the season in which they want to volunteer.

People with and without disabilities

Just like our participants, our volunteers have a range of abilities. Volunteers must be able to perform the functions necessary to assist participants durint the events.

People with a desire to serve and spread the OE mission

We believe that everyone's life benefits by having outdoor experiences, including individuals with and without disabilities. Our volunteers believe that the outdoors should be accessible to everyone!

"I believe taking a leadership role is nothing more than guiding someone. Telling people what to do is not helpful. It is letting people learn for themselves with guidance because nine times out of ten they can do it themselves."
-Kapil Kamra, OE volunteer since 1996
